Getting Started
Second Brain is a companion voice recorder for the Second Brain macOS app. Record voice notes on your iPhone and sync them to your Mac for transcription and AI analysis.
How to Use
- Record: Tap the record button to start capturing voice notes. The app automatically detects speech and silence (VAD).
- Background recording: The app continues recording when minimized. Live Activity shows progress on your Lock Screen.
- Pair with Mac: Go to Settings in the app, tap "Pair", and select your Mac running Second Brain on the same local network.
- Sync: Once paired, recorded chunks are automatically synced to your Mac for transcription.
FAQ
Do I need a Mac to use the app?
The app works as a standalone voice recorder. However, transcription and AI analysis require the Second Brain macOS app.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
No. All data stays on your devices. Sync happens over your local network (P2P) — nothing goes through external servers.
Why does the app need microphone access?
Microphone access is required for the core voice recording functionality.
Why does the app need location access?
Location is optional — it tags recordings with where they were made. You can deny this permission without affecting recording.
